Bitdefender and Kaspersky two cybersecurity companies offer a range of antivirus programs for home use. Their products offer protection against online threats, including ransomware, phishing and other malware, but also offer features like device and privacy security backup and restore, password managers and parental controls. Prices vary based on the product and plan you choose, but both companies offer affordable options when compared with other cybersecurity firms.
Both Bitdefender and Kaspersky received top marks from independent testing lab AVTEST. Bitdefender, however, scored higher in a few categories, such as anti-ransomware, and overall protection. It uses less system resources than Kaspersky and is also faster in detecting and eliminating malware.
The user interface of the company is easy to use and displays the status of your system clearly. It also has a useful status widget that you can place on your desktop to monitor scans in real-time. Kaspersky’s screens are a bit dull and disjointed.
Both companies provide dependable customer support. Bitdefender offers email, chat, and phone support in addition to community forum, knowledge base and videos tutorials. Kaspersky has a similar configuration with email, chat and phone support, as well board meeting design as tutorial videos, a knowledge base, and three forums for security at home.
Both companies offer mobile apps that let you manage and check your security. Kaspersky’s mobile app lets you perform common tasks such as scanning your database and then updating it. Its software also includes an account manager for passwords and a backup/restore feature that makes it easier to keep on top of your devices.
